 In 1980, in the heart of Leiria, Carnes Avenida began as a humble butcher’s shop with a simple promise: to offer meat you can trust, with an authentic flavor and a family’s care.

From those modest beginnings, a name with soul emerged. Through dedication, respect for craft, and an unwavering pursuit of quality, we earned the trust of those who cherish what is real — and became part of their tables, generation after generation.

The Distinction

“CARNES AVENIDA – PREPARAÇÃO E COMÉRCIO DE CARNES, LDA” has been distinguished by SCORING with the “TOP 5% BEST SMEs IN PORTUGAL” certification, 2023 edition. SCORING certifies that the company has met the access requirements for certification and, according to the ScorePME method and in the 2021 fiscal year, has obtained a Performance and Financial Solvency Index of over 80%, demonstrating consistency in the economic and financial aspects, which is only accessible to less than 5% of national companies.

Accordingly, it has obtained an “EXCELLENT” SCORING Notation (“NS 5”), which gives it the distinction of “TOP 5% 2023” in terms of economic and financial sustainability, as mentioned above.

Its seasoning, typical of the Leiria region, ensures the preservation of its authentic flavor. The sausage is filled in natural casing and hand-tied according to tradition, then slowly smoked over cork oak wood, which imparts its distinctive and characteristic taste.

ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS

Appearance: The exterior presents a glossy yellow-brown color.
Consistency: The texture is pasty, with an intact casing that is not completely filled with the dough. The interior is cohesive, showing a well-bound mixture with shiny, yellow-brownish lumps.
Shape: Horseshoe-shaped.
Color and Flavor: Distinctive and characteristic of the product.

NEGRITO

Product Description

Crafted from a precise selection of pork, fat, and spices, the Negrito stands out not only for the quality of its ingredients but also for its traditional method of production. Its seasoning, typical of the Leiria region, helps preserve its authentic, time-honored flavor. The sausage is filled in natural casing and hand-tied according to tradition, then slowly smoked to achieve its distinctive taste and aroma.

RICE MORCELA

Product Description

Crafted from a careful selection of pork, fat, and spices, Rice Morcela stands out not only for the quality of its ingredients but also for its traditional preparation method. Its seasoning has remained unchanged for generations, carrying forward the product’s history and heritage while preserving its rich flavor and fragrant aroma.
Delicately filled in natural casing, it is hand-tied and then slowly boiled, resulting in its characteristic matte appearance and unmistakable taste.

Appearance: Black in color, with a matte, lustreless surface.
Consistency: Firm texture, with an intact casing well adhered to the dough. The interior is homogeneous and cohesive, displaying a shiny, slightly lumpy or pasty appearance, with a distinctive brownish-grey or wine-lees hue.
Shape: Horseshoe-shaped.
Color and Flavor: Distinctive and characteristic of the product.

TRADITIONAL CHORIZO
